Trade finance begins with the underlying trade
A Letter of Credit, guarantee or other banking instrument only works when it reflects a genuine commercial transaction. The contract, goods, pricing, shipment, delivery terms, beneficiary and documentary requirements must be internally consistent before a bank can evaluate the proposed instrument.
GIGT therefore approaches trade finance from both sides of the transaction: the commercial flow and the banking mechanism. We help clients identify what the contract requires, what the beneficiary expects, which documents will trigger payment or performance and what information the bank needs to review the request.
We begin with the commercial objective, parties, value, timing and existing documents before recommending an execution path.
Where banking, legal, regulatory or specialist approval is required, the relevant institution retains its own independent decision-making responsibility.
